Michael dives deeper into explaining who she is as a digital illustrator. The role fashion still plays in her distinct illustrations- the complex, delicate, beauty, and all that defines Michaels’s world on NEWFORUM.

“Identity is important to me, figuring out how to weave more storytelling into my work…I want to create a good body of work that has a very good clear through line-detailing from my own experiences with gender identity…” — Michael

Michael shares with us that social media plays quite a role in her work, it helps her connect with an audience that may not have been accessible and she’s gotten some attractive work opportunities. Yet, Michael admits that it isn’t always efficient due to issues with the algorithm.

“People that follow you might not be able to see all your stuff consistently because they only boost certain things…you might be following somebody and miss something completely, and that’s an issue…” — Michael

Michaels’s relationship with social media is a matter of confidence- she explains that it can be intimidating for her.

“The algorithms could be better, and I would love more interaction with people, maybe with more other artists to grow, through idea sharing and collaborations…” — Michael

We heard all of Michaels’s joys and challenges with social media, and it was finally time to hear how this fabulous emerging talent from Ghana fell down the Web3 rabbit hole! NewForum wanted to understand her mental frame/model as someone who brings a diverse background and cultural perfective to Web3.

“It eliminates borders, and it puts people on more of an even kind of field. If you have a platform that allows you to cultivate your following very organically- it gives you a chance to reconnect with people, you can connect with anyone and have no limits on who likes your work or connects with your work…” — Michael

Micheals’s first experience with “the metaverse” was when she participated in an exhibition in a virtual reality space organized by a group in Ghana called Adventures From The Bedroom. She further explains the theme and exciting experience she had in her full interview!

“There are so many things I want to explore, just the concept of creating 3D worlds based on my art and giving people the chance to be immersive in these worlds…going to meet some of my characters and stuff like that -its really fun to be able to play with that and I would love to do that…”

Michael is excited to explore all things web3 and the future of the metaverse, and how it will impact and empower creators from the emerging market.

“Ghana’s economy doesn’t fully support creators the way they should, so opening kind of like a blowing door…to get support and patronage from anywhere could be amazing…” — Michael
