Emily Furlong Guides Us Through Otterspace's Vision & The Concept Of Non-Transferable Tokens In Web3

March 24, 2023

Emily Furlong is the founder and CEO of OtterSpace, a company that creates NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) and helps artists and creators monetize their work in the Web3 space. Emily's vision for OtterSpace is to make NFTs more accessible and understandable to a wider audience, while also providing a platform for artists to showcase and sell their unique creations.

In the Web3 space, NFTs are becoming increasingly popular as a way to buy and sell digital assets such as art, music, and even virtual real estate. However, the concept of NFTs can be difficult to understand for those who are not familiar with blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

According to Emily, NFTs are essentially digital certificates of ownership that are stored on the blockchain, which is a decentralized and secure ledger. Each NFT is unique and can represent anything from a digital artwork to a tweet or even a virtual pet.

One of the key features of NFTs is that they are non-transferable, which means that only the original owner of the NFT can sell or transfer it. This makes NFTs different from cryptocurrencies, which are fungible and can be traded for other cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies.

Emily believes that NFTs have the potential to revolutionize the way we think about ownership and value in the digital world. By creating unique digital assets that are authenticated on the blockchain, artists and creators can establish a direct relationship with their fans and collectors, and can monetize their work in a way that was previously impossible.

OtterSpace is working to make NFTs more accessible to a wider audience by creating a user-friendly platform that makes it easy for artists and creators to create, showcase, and sell their NFTs. They are also working on developing new ways to use NFTs, such as creating virtual experiences that can be bought and sold as NFTs.

Overall, Emily's vision for OtterSpace is to create a new economy for digital creators and artists, where ownership and value are established through NFTs on the blockchain. As the Web3 space continues to evolve, it will be exciting to see how NFTs are used to unlock new possibilities for creativity and commerce.

"There is a need for further development of identities in web3. Currently, identities are typically linked to an account. However, multiple identities and accounts are possible. Most people will likely have their primary outward-facing identity connected to their main account. Badges can be collected and added to this primary identity. If someone wants a secondary account with a different identity for different contexts, that is also possible. Badges can be collected from multiple sources. We are exploring ZK technology to allow users to hide or make certain badges private, but this is still in early stages. Overall, the concept of identity in web three is new, and we are in the process of laying the foundations. There are many talented individuals working on this space...."
